Westerville, OH—Otterbein University announces the appointment of Dr. Victoria McGillin as provost and vice president for academic affairs.
McGillin served as the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Linfield College in Oregon from 2008-2010. As the chief academic officer, she was responsible for all academic personnel and academic programs across two campuses and the Division of Continuing Education, including four academic divisions, the School of Nursing, over 45 on-campus majors and eight on-line majors.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be granted this opportunity to serve as the new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs of Otterbein University,” said McGillin. “The faculty, staff and students of Otterbein so impressed me with their passion and excitement for this distinguished institution. I look forward to joining President Krendl, the Cabinet, and the entire Otterbein community as we move forward with curricula, learning experiences and professional development opportunities that are a model for the nation. My husband, Ray, and I are eager to settle in and become part of this community.”
McGillin previously held positions as associate provost at Texas Woman’s University; dean of studies, dean for academic advising and assistant provost at Wheaton College; and associate dean of the college and director of academic advising at Clark University. She has also taught psychology for over 30 years.
She earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Michigan State University and her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
“Dr. McGillin will bring to Otterbein an impressive breadth of experience to address the challenges and opportunities identified in our strategic planning processes. I look forward to her leadership and direction as well as her knowledge about the changing landscape of higher education. She will work with us in shaping our future as an institution that offers a distinctive educational experience for our students,” said President Kathy Krendl.
McGillin will start to visit campus in July and assume the post on August 1, prior to Otterbein starting its semester system on August 29, 2011.
