Dr. Brian F. Dalton - Alfred University Vice President for Enrollment Management

Alfred University President Mark Zupan has announced the appointment of Dr. Brian F. Dalton  as the University’s  new Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective May 22.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Brian’s depth and breadth of experience in Enrollment Management to lead our initiatives, which are integral to the success of our strategic plan,” said Zupan. “Brian has accomplished a great deal while leading Enrollment Management teams at a variety of private colleges and universities and has a demonstrated commitment to private higher education.”

"I'm thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to work at Alfred University,” said Dalton. “I look forward to working with President Zupan, a talented executive team, faculty and staff, and the entire Alfred community to write the next compelling chapter of this truly unique institution.”

Dalton comes to Alfred University from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA,  where he was Vice President for Enrollment Services. Prior to that, he was Vice President for Enrollment and College Relations at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA; Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management at Mercer College in Macon, Georgia; and Associate Academic Dean for Program Development and then Vice President for Enrollment Management at the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN. He also served as Dean of Enrollment Management at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX.

Dalton’s awards include a Marketing and Recruitment Excellence Award from Noel Levitz, 2002; the Outstanding Strategic Enrollment Management Professional Award from the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers, 2011; and the Smith/Wilson Courage Award  from the University of Texas at Austin, 2015.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s in Public Administration, both from Gannon University in Erie, PA, as well as Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dalton and his wife Diana have three children: Abby, 24; Shawn, 22, and Ian, 19.

President Zupan expressed his appreciation, and that of the entire Alfred University community, to Kathy Woughter, who has served ably as interim Vice President for Enrollment Management for the current year, in addition to her responsibilities as Vice President for Student Affairs. She also chaired the search committee for the new Vice President for Enrollment Management, leading it to a successful conclusion within a tight timeframe to assure the University had someone on board for the start of the 2017-18 academic year.

Zupan also thanked Bill Sliwa, the interim Director of Admissions over the past several months, “for the energetic and beneficial role that he has played with our enrollment efforts over that period.”

Other members of the search committee for the new Vice President for Enrollment Management are Jodi Bailey, Jared Cooper, Allen Grove, Del Rey Honeycutt, Michelle Pomeroy, Quinn Porzio, Angus Powers, Charles Scheetz, and Brian Striker.

“We welcome Brian to our Alfred University community, and look forward to working with him over the years to come, to enhance the opportunity and impact that our University provides to our students, and thereby to the broader world,” Zupan said.
